Coral Grouper, Cephalopholis miniata (Lat). This small grouper grows up to 40 cm. Regularly seen by divers. It feeds on small fish. Depth 5-150 m. Readily identified by blue dots on red body and dusky vertical bars

Red Sea, Indo-Pacific - Persian Gulf, Maldives, Indonesia, Thailand, Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, GBR, Papua - tropical and subtropical seas
